A Selection of Published Articles in the Horseman’s Yankee Pedlar, a Northeast Equine Publication
Below are several published articles in The Horseman’s Yankee Pedlar, a Northeast Equine Publication published monthly in the early 1990s. The Equine Journal later purchased the publication. During that time, I worked as Associate Editor (under the married name of Fusco), and usually published at least one article monthly for this monthly publication.
I enjoyed visiting farms throughout New England and interviewing owners and trainers. It was fun and interesting to learn about their backgrounds and lifestyles, as well as to meet their horses, stallions, and offspring. At the time, my mother and I ran a Warmblood Breeding Farm, Hidden Meadow Farm. We bred Thoroughbred mares to Warmblood stallions, specifically the Dutch stallions. You will note the article titled “Keuring: A Dutch Breeding Tradition,” in which I participated in the Keuring with several of our broodmares and their offspring and wrote the article describing the process and the Keuring program. We had a beautiful Thoroughbred mare at the time (as seen in the photos) who was a Secretariat granddaughter - her name was August Rose. She was recognized by the Dutch as a premium Thoroughbred when they had just begun to acknowledge Thoroughbred mares into the program.
I have since moved onto copywriting, but here is where my love of writing began!
